Queen Ka'ahumanu Center captures the essence of Maui's natural climate and landscape. High technology, indigenous architectural features and landscaping are ingenuously combined in a retail environment that creates generous interior spaces. Multiple layers of Teflon fabric form a lightweight roof canopy, allowing air and light to circulate while shielding shoppers from heat and rain. Along the sides, openings between flat panels reveal views of the surrounding sea, sky, and mountains. Sleek, supple surfaces are balanced by the native culture of Maui.
