FAR EASTERN DEPARTMENT STORE

The design of the 15-story, 150,000 square meter department store addresses the challenge of the Z-shaped, mid-block site with two "front" streets. A bright passageway connects the two distinct volumes while the structure and skin of the layered facade creates a standout identity. The translucent glass facade with embedded LED screens and dramatic lighting curves out from the building frame to engage passers by in a lively three dimensional conversation that invites discovery.
