The conversion of the former 1929 Bullock's Wilshire department store into a state-of-the-art library for the Southwestern University School of Law posed a dual challenge: to preserve the famous architectural details of the "Cathedral of Commerce," and to incorporate new furniture, building systems and cutting-edge technology into an ideal location for study and research. Library functions are seamlessly inserted amid the beauty of the Art Deco interiors, while custom-designed furniture reflects the craftsmanship and character of the original store.
